Uniform Sources for detector calibration

CCD or CMOS chips need to be calibrated for their uniformity response and light level detection. Therefore diffuse, angular independent and constant light is required. This light can be produced with an integrating sphere equipped with a known light source and a constant current power supply. The sphere has one big exit port where the device to be calibrated is placed. This port should not be bigger than 1/3 of the entire sphere diameter to get good uniformity and no angular dependence. The choice of the light source(s), power supply, variable attenuators (computer controlled or just a manual micrometer screw) and the detector should be specific for the application and best clarified in a technical discussion. Radiometric and photopic calibrations are available as well as standardized system kits.
For night vision applications with very low light levels our "Star-Light-Level" System provides the required fine attenuations.
On the high end, we also offer solar simulators which consist of a combination of Tungsten Halogen and Xenon lamps in different intensity levels. With a specific combination of several different lamps and intensities we can simulate different solar scenarios.
Vacuum compatible uniform Sources
Challenging projects are uniform sources for aerospace applications. In the field of research in simulated space conditions, uniform sources which work in vacuum and emit solar spectra are required. When working in vacuum, lots of different, usually unperceived, properties need to be considered. After a couple of successful installations worldwide, we have the required experience and know how to also help you with your project in that field.
